“In just three years as president, and against tremendous odds, Barack Obama ended Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell. He’s been bringing service members home from Iraq. He got financial aid reform passed, increased the Pell Grant, and increased the American Opportunity Tax Credit to $2500 — all so that college is more affordable. And he passed the Affordable Care Act, which has made quality and affordable health care available while also lowering costs.”—Kal Penn (via azspot)
Thanks for your comment hon. You scared me for a moment; I thought you might have actually been my sister! That sudden feeling of "OH NO THE FAMILY KNOWS MY INTERNET SIDE", haha. Thanks again though. Lots of love!
Bahaha I am le sorryyy I didn’t mean to scare you! Just know that you aren’t alone in this battle ever ever EVER and there is always someone, such as myself, willing to listen if you ever need to vent or to be reminded that you are human and, therefor, deserving of love and understanding! <3 :D
I'm supposed to be grateful... I'm supposed to be happy... I have a job I have a job... Why am I so sad?
Missy, why do you hate your job so much? You should be grateful!
Uh, okay so. Here’s how this shit goes:
Thursday and Friday you go into work at 2:30am. (On Sunday you have to go earlier. Ill explain in a minute) You get to work in a stuffy, unventilated warehouse full of sweaty, shady or gremlin-like people who all hate their lives or their job as much as you do.
So once you arrive at the warehouse, if it hasn’t arrived you, you have to wait until the semi truck that has all the papers to distribute to ALL THE EMPLOYEES at that specific warehouse arrive from the print station before you can even get into line.
And it’s a long line. A loooooooooooong line. EVERY employee in that warehouse has to wait in that line to get to the unloading station where they are given the amount of papers that they need for their route.
When you finally get to the front of the line, the district manager throw bundles of papers (however many you need) into the giant wheeled cart you need to use to transport your papers from the unloading station to your work station. Mind you, the managers want you out of the warehouse and delivering these papers by 4am even though you cant control when the fuckin truck gets there.
So you got your papers. Now you gotta look at the PAPERWORK. The paperwork contains the information about your route. It has all of your customers’ names and addresses, what kind of paper they get (Either Detroit News or Detroit Freepress) each of their individual instructions on delivery. Some want it delivered at a certain time, or in their door, on their mailbox, in a news tube, on their door handle etc, for example.
You have to check your paperwork every day that you go in to see if you have any new customers, if anyone stopped service, if someone is on vacation (and if you are supposed to be holding their papers for them until they get back) and if anyone has any special requests about their delivery. If there are any changes to your route from the previous time you delivered, you need to take note of it and change whatever PERSONAL list you have made from this paperwork according to the changes.
Once you have figured out if you have changes to your route (and believe me, my route is CONSTANTLY changing), you have to untwine all of the bundles (I have about 170 - 180 papers and that’s a SMALL route) and assemble the news papers by hand with the advertisements and all other inserts and stuff them into colored bags based. We use different colored bags so that we can tell which paper is the Detroit News and which is the Detroit Freepress.
Oh, and did I mention that not ONLY do you have to buy those bags from your OWN paycheck, but that you DONT get paid to assemble the papers? It gets better (Which is sarcasm.)
So everything I said (Go in, wait in line, get papers, check paperwork, make changes if nessicary, assmble the papers) is a daily rutine, but each day you work has it’s specific tasks that are as following:
Thursday Morning; 2:30 am
Do daily routine, leave for your route, drive to each house and deliever them accordingly:
"Which paper does the customer want delievered?? Where do they want it delivered?"
I drive 20 miles by the end of my delivery.
Friday Morning; 2:30am
Do daily routine.
However, today you are distributing an extra insert (the TV guide) to customers who request that they recieve it.
"Which paper does the customer want? Where do they want it delivered? Do they get a TV guide? Do they get MORE than one TV guide? Do they ONLY get a TV guide?"
Again, I drive 20 miles for my route.
Sunday Morning; 1:30am
Do daily routine BUT! Here’s the kicker about Sunday…
You go in early because on Sundays, you have all of your customers, AND extra customers who only get their paper on Sunday. Although it’s a little easier because ONLY the Detroit Freepress is distributed on Sunday, the luxury of only ONE kind of paper is shattered by the fact that there are so many inserts that day, that you need to assemble them separately (ads, extra inserts, comic) and THEN assmble them with the papers.
In addiction the extra insert that you delivered on Friday (that only goes to customers who request it), on Sunday there is ANOTHER kind of insert to distribute. A second kind of TV guide (that ALSO only goes to customers who request it.) So you assemble the papers and leave for your route paying attention to
"Do they get TV guide #1 (or TV guide #2)? Do they get more than one of TV guide #1 (or TV guide #2)? Do they ONLY TV guide #1 (ONLY TV guide #2)? Where do they want it delivered? Did I deliver my Sunday-Only customers?"
Another 20 miles for my route.
Don’t get paid to assmble papers
Have to buy your own bags
Everyday is changing
What else could make this job suck? How about:
You don’t get compensation for the gas you use on your route
You only get 30 cents per delievery
Even though you only get 30 cents per delivery, if a customer calls your manager and complains about your delivery (It wasn’t there on time. It was the wrong paper. It wasn’t in the right place. It didn’t have my requested insert. etc) $5 per complaint is deducted from your paycheck.
Oh, and the stop and go between houses demolishes your car.
I’m supposed to be grateful to have to put my entire fucking check into my gas tank?
About my hasjkhdakjhdakj on people upset about that cartoon:
"Hey I wanted to personally apologize for not reading deeper into the situation about the TV show. I don’t have cable and don’t watch TV so I had no idea that there was a deeper issue beyond "THEY TOOK OFF A CARTOOOON!" and that was my own fault for not looking deeper into the situation. I sincerely apologize and it was not my intention to undermine the issue at hand in regards to the lgbtq movement. I am very sorry :("
I seriously am sorry and from now on I will ASK. I am human and I made an irrational mistake and I will take this opportunity to learn from it. I’ve never seen the show, but according to a few people there is a assumed lesbian-esque couple in the show aaaaand I was unaware. It isn’t even a question in my mind whether or not that’s “acceptable”. It just IS. And therefore, if what you all have been telling me about this particular episode being removed for that reason is true;
lolwtf seriously? Why why why? Why is it so fucking acceptable to subject people (namely children) to graphic violence or sexism or blatant racism buuuuut “OH GOD IT’S DISGUSTING! LOOK AT THAT WOMAN WHO CARES FOR AND CHERISHES THAT OTHER WOMAN!?!
What the actual fuck? Heaven forbid a depiction of compassion, care, integrity and loyalty to another human being.
Or well, in this case, cartoon… Form… Errr, I haven’t seen the show, guys! But I understand why this is an issue and I had no idea what was going on earlier and I’m sorry. I really really am.
I just had a double shot of espresso. Excuse my horrible rant.
I believe what OP was getting at with Adventure Time being removed is that there are hints that Marcelline/Bubblegum are a lesbian couple, and that was why is was removed. Which is a legitimate problem.
AHA And now sense has been made! Okay thank you! I’m not familiar with the cartoon so I was under the impression it was more a “Omg wai they takez our tv show away wahh” kind of thing.
Thank goodness it wasn’t!
However, boo on the media for that! As if lesbianity or is detrimental to children or something. God forbid teaching tolerance Cos the violent depictions of war on news and etc. TOTALLY aren’t detrimental like them durrty lezboooz
A Bloomberg survey of economists concludes President Obama’s $447 billion jobs plan “would help avoid a return to recession by maintaining growth and pushing down the unemployment rate next year.”
The last thing Republicans want is for Obama to be able to take credit for improving the lives of American voters so close to an election. They would rather see more people losing their jobs and their homes and their dignity than to see Obama win in 2012.
What is good for the country is secondary to destroying Obama’s chances to win in 2012, party over country, always - GOP/Teabagger Mentality
“”Today, I was sitting on the steps of church waiting for a bus when I saw an old Catholic nun being assisted up the steps by a young man wearing a Muslim turban. Once they were at the top, the nun turned to the young man and said, ‘I can see both of our gods raise beautiful children. Thank you.’ The young man smiled and nodded.”—
